Creating a WM Sprint
A WM Sprint is a short, timeboxed iteration (typically 1-2 weeks) where your team focuses on completing specific stories and tasks. Sprints break down your release into manageable work cycles and help your team stay organized and focused. Sprints are created within a release record.
👨😫 Create a New WM Sprint
Follow these steps to create a sprint within a release:
- Open Agile Manager
Click the App Launcher (9-dot grid icon) and select Agile Manager. - Navigate to WM Releases
Click the WM Releases tab to view all releases. - Open the Release
Click on the specific release record where you want to create a sprint.
- Scroll to Sprints Section
On the release detail page, scroll down to the related lists section and find the Sprints related list. - Click New Sprint
Click the New button in the Sprints section to create a new sprint. - Fill in Sprint Details
Enter the following information:- Sprint Name: Give the sprint a clear name (e.g., "Sprint 1", "Q3 Sprint 2")
- Start Date: When the sprint begins
- End Date: When the sprint ends (typically 1-2 weeks from start)
- Sprint Goal: A brief description of what the team aims to accomplish
- Status: Mark as Planned, In Progress, or Completed
- Save the Sprint
Click Save. The sprint is now created and automatically linked to your release.
📌 Next Steps After Creating a Sprint
Once your sprint is created, you can:
- Add User Stories: Create stories that will be completed in this sprint
- Assign Tasks: Assign work to team members within the sprint
- Create Test Cases: Add quality assurance tests for sprint deliverables
- Track Progress: Monitor sprint burndown and velocity in the dashboard
- Run Sprint Reviews: Conduct sprint planning and retrospective meetings
💫 Sprint Best Practices
- Keep sprints consistent: Use the same duration (1 or 2 weeks) for all sprints to maintain predictability
- Set realistic goals: Base sprint capacity on your team's historical velocity
- Plan ahead: Prepare stories before the sprint starts to avoid delays
- Daily standups: Keep your team aligned on progress and blockers
- Review and retrospect: Gather feedback at the end of each sprint to continuously improve
❓ Troubleshooting
Can't see the Sprints related list? Make sure you're on the release detail page (not the list view) and that the related list is visible. It may be collapsed—try scrolling down.
New button not appearing? Verify you have Agile Manager User permission set assigned and that the release record is saved.
Sprint not saving? Check that all required fields (marked with *) are completed. Sprint Name, Start Date, and End Date are typically required.
