Support Agent - Create Remediation Task
Support Agent - Create Remediation Task
Once you have validated the customer's service entitlements, the next step is to create a remediation task that assigns the work to your engineering team or technician. This guide walks you through creating, configuring, and assigning remediation tasks in Salesforce.
Step 1: Navigate to Create Remediation Task
After validating the Service Entitlement, navigate to create a new remediation task in Salesforce for your engineering team or assigned technician.

Step 2: Review Task Assignment Form
The remediation task form displays all required and optional fields for task assignment and tracking. Review the available form layout before proceeding to data entry.

📌 Tip: Ensure all required fields are completed accurately to enable proper task routing, priority management, and labor rate calculations.
Step 3: Populate Task Details
Complete all required task information as described below. Each field serves a specific purpose in task routing and labor tracking:
Task Name: A descriptive name for the remediation work (e.g., "Module Repair - Timeline Library Other Costs XYZ")
Priority: Set the urgency level (Critical, High, Medium, Low) based on business impact and SLA requirements
Case: Link the task to the parent support case to maintain traceability and context
Problem Description: Provide detailed technical description of the issue requiring remediation
Task Status: Set initial status (typically "Open") to indicate task state
Actual Initial Response Date/Time: Record when the task was first communicated to the customer for transparency and SLA tracking

⚠️ Important: Accuracy in task details directly impacts SLA compliance, labor billing, and customer satisfaction. Double-check priority, case linkage, and response date/time before saving.
Step 4: Assign Technician and Save
Select the appropriate technician or engineering team member to whom this task will be assigned. Ensure the selected resource has the skills and availability to address the remediation work.
Technician Contact: Define the primary engineering team member responsible for executing this task. The system will route notifications and track time based on this assignment.
Step 5: Automatic Labor Rate Calculation
Upon saving the remediation task, Salesforce automatically retrieves and applies the currency-based blended labor rate for the assigned technician.

✅ Automatic Processing: The labor rate calculation is fully automated, eliminating manual entry errors and ensuring accurate billing based on current rates, technician skill levels, and customer currency preferences.

Best Practices
📍 Always Link to Case: Maintain referential integrity by linking every task to its parent support case for complete audit trail and customer context.
📍 Set Accurate Priority: Base priority levels on actual business impact and SLA requirements, not perceived urgency. Accurate prioritization ensures resources are allocated efficiently.
📍 Record Response Time: Capture the actual date/time when the customer was notified to maintain accurate SLA metrics and response time reporting.
📍 Select Right Technician: Assign tasks to team members with appropriate skills and current capacity. Consider skill overlap and workload balancing for optimal resource utilization.
📍 Verify Before Saving: Double-check all fields before saving to avoid incorrect task routing, labor rate calculations, or billing discrepancies.
✅ Task Created Successfully: Once saved, the task is automatically routed to the assigned technician, the labor rate is calculated, and customer notifications are triggered per your workflow configuration.
