Mastering Project Creation in the Project Management Center

Now that you know how to navigate to the Project Management Center, it's time to put it to work. In this article, we walk through the process of creating, configuring, and validating a new project. Below is a chronological walkthrough of the project setup process, using screenshots to illustrate each step.

What you will do: Start a new PSC Project, complete the core and status report information, assess project health, assign roles, and save the record.

Step 1: Initiating a New Project

Begin by navigating to the PSC Projects tab. This is your central repository for all active and pending projects.

Step 2: Filling in Core Project Information

Once you click "New," a "New PSC Project" modal window will open.

  1. Start by filling out the essential details in the "Information" section.
  2. Project Name: Give your project a clear title (e.g., "Sales Cloud Implementation - Acme Inc").
  3. Account: Link the project to the relevant client or account.
  4. Project Phase & Stage: Define where this project sits in your overall lifecycle (e.g., "Develop").
  5. Dates: Set your Start Date, End Date, and Go-Live Date.
  6. Billing Type: Specify how the project will be billed (e.g., "Fixed Bid Project").
  7. You can also add a Budget Tracker Link and associate a Milestone Checklist.

Tip: You can link the Budget Tracker Link to your primary PSC quote or quote request record. The Milestone Checklist can link to your timeline project plan or any external document.

Step 3: Completing Status Report Information

Scroll down within the modal to the Status Report Info section. This is where you set up the baseline for your reporting cadence.

Step 8: Save and Continue

Once all required fields are populated and validation errors are resolved, click the Save or Save & New button at the bottom of the modal window to add the project to your PSC Projects list.
