Lightning PDF Generator: Release Notes

Version: LPG v1.9
Release Date: 2026-10-18

What's new in v1.9: Two enhancements, S-31 Multi-Component PDF Compiler and S-30 Dynamic File Naming via Salesforce Merge Fields. Both are Dev Complete.

S-31: Multi-Component PDF Compiler

Description

Previously, the Lightning PDF Generator could capture only a single element per document: the full page window, a single component by index, or a single CSS selector match.

This feature introduces a Multi-Component export mode. Administrators and users can select multiple individual components or sections on a Lightning record page (via App Builder configuration or a runtime selection interface) and merge them sequentially into a single, cohesive PDF document.

User Story
As a Salesforce Administrator or End User, I want to select and combine multiple individual components on a Lightning page into one PDF file, so that I can generate focused multi-section reports (such as Case Details + Activity Feed + Knowledge Snippets) in a single document without including unneeded full-page clutter.

Status: Dev Complete

S-30: Dynamic File Naming via Salesforce Merge Fields

Description

Previously, the File Name design attribute in Lightning App Builder was a fixed, static text value (defaulting to page.pdf), so every PDF generated on a given record page shared the same file name.

This feature updates the File Name design attribute across Lightning App Builder and custom Aura wrappers (clpdf:CL_LightPDFGenerator) to evaluate Salesforce merge fields at runtime when generating PDFs.

Example merge fields:
{{ObjectApiName.CaseNumber}}_Summary
{{ObjectApiName.AccountName}}_Snapshot

User Story
As a Salesforce Administrator or Service Agent, I want to configure the File Name design attribute using dynamic Salesforce record merge fields in Lightning App Builder, so that downloaded PDF files are automatically contextualized with unique record details (e.g., Case Number or Account Name) without requiring manual file renaming after download.

Status: Dev Complete
