The QuoteX Lite/Advanced - Timeline Amendment add-on is a powerful extension designed to address critical limitations in the core QuoteX change order process. This premium add-on component enables organizations to efficiently manage resource modifications and generate accurate change orders with greater flexibility and precision.

In the standard QuoteX change order workflow, users face a significant constraint: the inability to assign negative hours to resource allocations. This limitation creates challenges when projects require resource reductions or when generating decrease orders to reflect actual project changes. Traditional workarounds are time-consuming and prone to errors, impacting project profitability and resource planning accuracy.

QuoteX Timeline Amendment introduces a streamlined approach to managing resource changes within your existing quote timelines. This add-on allows you to clone previously allocated roles and adjust hours - both positive and negative - while maintaining the integrity of your original quote data. All modifications are tracked and marked distinctly in the system for complete auditability and reporting.

This user guide will walk you through the step-by-step process of installing, configuring and using the QuoteX Timeline Amendment add-on to effectively manage your resource changes and generate accurate change orders.

Installation and Setup (Administrator Guide)

Prerequisites

• QuoteX Dependency: QuoteX version 1.75 or higher must be installed (we recommend you upgrade your QuoteX to v 1.85 salesforce security review passed.).
• Active License: An active license for the base QuoteX package is necessary.

1. Open the provided Installation URL and log in to the target Salesforce org.
2. Select Install for All Users.
3. Check the acknowledgement box for installing a non-AppExchange package.
4. Click Install.

Post-Installation Configuration

A system administrator must perform these steps to configure access and visibility:

Step 1: Assign QuoteX Change Order Permission Set

1. Navigate to Setup > Permission Sets.
2. Find and select the QuoteX Change Order Permission Set.
3. Assign this Permission Set to all relevant QuoteX Users.

Step 2: Create Custom Field 'Is Amendment Quote'

1. Navigate to Setup > Object Manager > PSC Quote.
2. Create a Checkbox custom field named Is Amendment Quote.
3. Ensure Read and Edit permissions are granted to the relevant QuoteX User Profiles.

Step 3: Update Quote Layout

1. Edit the PSC Quote - QuoteX Lite Layout (or the layout in use).
2. Drag the Is Amendment Quote field onto the layout, placing it under the Quote Information section.
3. Save the Page Layout.

Step 4: Configure Visibility for the Standard Timeline Component

1. Launch the Lightning App Builder for the Quote Record Page again.
2. Select the existing QuoteX Lite - Timeline component.
3. Add a component visibility filter:

• Record > Parent Quote > Is Amendment Quote | Equals | False

Step 5: Embed and Configure the Amendment Component

1. Drag the QuoteX Lite/Advanced Timeline Amendment component from the sidebar and place it just below the standard timeline component.

Apply the following two visibility filters to this new component:

• Filter A: Record > Is Specific To Timeline | Equals | True
• Filter B: Record > Parent Quote > Is Amendment Quote | Equals | True

Click Save and Activate the updated Lightning Record Page.

User Workflow Guide: Amendment Quote (Sales Rep)

This workflow demonstrates how a Sales Rep processes a contract reduction (/addition) using the Add-On.

General Use Case: Reduce 3 FTE roles (PM, TL, Dev) by 50% for the next 12 months.

Phase 1: Preparation

Phase 2: Applying the Reduction (Timeline Amendment Component)

Navigate to the Timeline tab/section. The Amend Timeline will automatically appear.

Locate the row for the Project Manager (PM) resource and click the ➕ Add Amendment button.

Input the reduction details:

• Start/End Date: Go to the cell for the relative month/frequency in the timeline. 
• Value: Enter the negative percentage: -84. (Select and paste in rest of the cells)

It’ll automatically Apply Amendment and do the recalculations.

Repeat Steps 2 through 4 for the Technical Lead (TL) and Developer (Dev) roles, entering -84 for the same time period.

Phase 3: Finalization

1. Review the updated timeline view and the Quote Total field to confirm the reduced financial value.
2. Submit the Amendment Quote for internal approval.

The system automatically calculates the exact negative hours needed and updates the Quote Line Items, providing an accurate, audit-ready amendment in seconds.
