FAQ: How do I create and manage Quote Requests (QR)?
How to Create a Quote Request
To begin, access the Pre Sales Cloud app from the Salesforce App Launcher and navigate to the PSC Quote Requests tab.
- Initiate: Click the 'New' button.
- Basic Details: Provide a Name for the QR and search for the associated Opportunity.
- Classification: Select a QR Status (representing your organization's presales lifecycle) and a Type, such as Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) or Detailed Level of Effort (LOE).
- Project Specifics:
- Select the Project Focus Area.
- Enter the Date Needed for Quote Support and the Due Date for LOE.
- Add a Project Description to provide context for the sales engineers.
- Assignment & Review: You can designate a specific person to review the final version of the request.
- Currency: Choose the applicable currency; however, note that this will eventually synchronize based on the primary quote attached to the request.
How to Manage Quote Requests
Once created, the Quote Request acts as a high-level dashboard for your project data:
- Automated Summaries: The QR interface is organized into six sections. Key fields like Quotes Summary, Travel and Other Costs, and Resource Hours are read-only and auto-populate based on activities in the timelines of your quotes.
- Adding Quotes: From the saved QR record, you can click 'Create Quote' to begin building detailed project estimates.
- Editing: You can select and modify existing Quote Requests at any time from the PSC Quote Requests tab.
- Collaboration: You can use the Chatter tab within the QR or specific quotes to obtain feedback from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
Note for Managers: The summary fields in the QR synchronize based on the primary quote. While the currency can be set initially, it is not advisable to alter it after the QR is created, as it will vary based on that primary quote's settings.
